Two thieves on a motor-scooter flew by and snatched a womans purse on a street in Wenzhou, China. Surveillance video shows a man riding a bicycle. As he was passing by the front of a hotel near where the thievery happened, he stopped, calmly got off his bicycle, picked it up, and then threw it at the thieves. The bicycle hit them, they lost control, and crashed to the ground.

Brooklyn Nets is offical for 2012!

As developer Bruce Ratner finally closed on his long-delayed Atlantic Yards project in Brooklyn, state officials yesterday wasted little time kicking off eminent-domain proceedings to seize private land the arena and housing project needs.
Now, after six years of fighting off project opponents and a tough economy, Ratner appears to have sealed the deal to bring the Nets to Brooklyn.
He signed off on hundreds of documents with government agencies related to the "master closing" of his $4.9 billion Atlantic Yards project, while finalizing the financing of $511 million in tax-free bonds that will help pay off the project's nearly $1 billion arena.

Meanwhile, the state yesterday petitioned the courts to condemn private property yet to be obtained for the 22-acre project, which also includes 16 residential and commercial skyscrapers. State officials said they expect to have all the land needed for the project's first phase by Feb. 1.
"Today, what has long been a vision for the future of Brooklyn becomes a reality," said Ratner, who hopes to have the team in the borough by 2012.
But Atlantic Yards opponents aren’t tossing the towel just yet.
Opposition group Develop Don’t Destroy Brooklyn plans to submit yet another suit – this time over state officials allegedly skirting the law so that the Public Authorities Control Board and state Comptroller did not have to review the $511 million arena bonding plan. The likely targets: the Empire State Development Corp. and a quasi government agency created by the state to boost the arena plan.

"Gov. Paterson, who once opposed eminent domain, has clearly decided that the best thing to do for the holidays is evict men, woman and children from their homes," said DDDB spokesman Daniel Goldstein.
According to Ratner, 35 buildings and 56 percent of the project footprint has been demolished. A bulk of the project’s infrastructure repair work is already underway.
The developer and the Nets this week also posted signs along the construction area about the coming arena.

Body found wrapped in plastic under car in Bklyn

A Brooklyn driver got the fright of his life yesterday when he looked under his car to check if he had run over a snow bank, and instead saw a dead teen wrapped in plastic beneath the vehicle, police said.
Ashraf Ali was attempting to drive his Altima out of a parking spot at 180 27th St. in Sunset Park at 12:40 a.m. yesterday when he heard a dragging sound.
After driving about 15 feet, "My friend looked out of the car and saw a leg sticking out. I thought he was joking," Ali said.
Ali, 27, then saw a hand under the car.
"I saw a clear plastic bag with a body. I was so scared, I was shaking," said Ali.
Cops say the body was that of Daniel Vargas, 19, of Brooklyn.
He had suffered massive head and brain injuries, as well as strangulation, said Ellen Borakove of the Medical Examiner's Office.
Nearby surveillance cameras showed the body had been dumped late Wednesday night.
"This was so scary," Ali said. "There was a dead body under my car, and I never expected to see anything like that."

People like this do exist.
